The Student Portal: An Overview

What students see in SchoolAI

The Student Portal is your student's home inside SchoolAI. A dedicated space where they can get AI-powered support, access learning materials from their teacher, and submit their own work for feedback.

Student Sidekick

Student Sidekick is a personal AI learning assistant available to students anytime they're logged into SchoolAI (safety guardrails always in place).

Students can use Sidekick to:

  • Get help with concepts they're working through

  • Ask questions outside of class time

  • Explore topics they're curious about

  • Think through problems at their own pace

Sidekick is student-initiated, meaning students open conversations when they need support, whether that's during class, after school, or at home.

Educator visibility: All Sidekick activity is visible to teachers. Safety and well-being alerts are active across every Sidekick session, and district-level guardrails apply to every interaction.

Spaces Library

The Spaces Library is a central hub for students to access every Space their teacher has shared with them, all in one place, always available.

Instead of hunting for a link in an email or LMS folder, students can open their Spaces Library and find any learning experience their teacher has assigned, past or present.

Students can:

  • Return to any Space to review, practice, or go deeper

  • Pick up where they left off on their own schedule

  • Build on their work over time within a single Space

Educator control: Teachers can close any Space at any time. Alerts that were active during the original assignment remain active when students revisit independently.

Student Uploads

Student Uploads allows students to share their actual work β€” including images of handwritten notes, rough drafts, and documents β€” directly into a Space, where the AI can provide personalized feedback.

Students can upload:

  • Images: JPG, PNG, GIF

  • Documents: PDF, DOC, DOCX

Once uploaded, the AI responds to the student's specific submission. Teachers can see every upload inside Mission Control, alongside the student's conversation thread.

Privacy: Uploads are visible only to the uploading student and their assigned teachers. A student's files are never shared with other students.

Device flexibility: Students can upload from any device. If a student doesn't have a camera or smartphone, teachers can also photograph and upload physical work on their behalf.
