Sometimes students need help outside of class. Or between assignments. Or late on a Sunday night. With SchoolAI's new LMS integration, you can add an embedded AI teaching assistant directly to your course navigation. It's not tied to one assignment or activity. It lives in your course all semester long, ready whenever students need it.
How it Works
Your school installs the integration. You connect a SchoolAI Space to your course. A link appears in your course menu. Students click it anytime they need support, and your AI TA is there to help. It's like office hours that never close.
Set Up a SchoolAI Teaching Assistant
Navigate to your course in Canvas.
Select SchoolAI TA from the left-hand course navigation.
You’ll be redirected to the Space Launch page, a modified version of the Discover page.
Choose an existing Space or create a new one (for example, “Writing Coach” or “Math Tutor”).
Select Add Space. This button changes within the LTI environment to confirm the Space link.
The linked Space now appears in Mission Control. Teachers can manage or remove the connection at any time.
Your course is now linked to a persistent SchoolAI Space that serves as the course’s assistant.
What Students See
Students will see the SchoolAI TA link in their course navigation. When they select it, they’re dropped directly into their assigned Space session. From there, they can interact with the TA to ask questions, receive help, or get guidance.
The SchoolAI TA remains accessible throughout the entire course, with no new assignments or re-linking required.
Manage the Linked Space
Teachers can return to Mission Control at any time to view or modify the existing SchoolAI TA link. If needed, they can remove the current Space or assign a new one. This management process works similarly to the deep link setup for assignments, but it uses a resource link, meaning it’s tied to the course navigation rather than a specific assignment.
Key Details
This feature allows persistent resource linking, which is ideal for course-wide support assistants.
Teachers and students share the same linked Space, ensuring consistent communication.
Removing or reassigning Spaces can be done at any time from Mission Control.
