Overview
Batch Feedback lets you grade your whole set of class assignments at once, dozens or hundreds of submissions, without leaving Canvas or Google Classroom.
Instead of copying student work into a separate AI chat tool, you start a feedback session right from the SchoolAI browser extension, tell it your rubric and expectations once, and then move through your class one student at a time with an AI-suggested grade and comment ready for your review.
The goal of Batch Feedback is to give you a starting point to revise and fine-tune. You are always in control. SchoolAI never writes a grade or comment into your LMS unless you click “Apply.” Every suggestion is clearly labeled as AI-generated and pending your review until you finalize and submit the feedback.
Who it's for
Batch Feedback is built for educators grading writing assignments: middle school, high school, and higher education instructors using Canvas or Google Classroom. It's especially useful for large classes or course sections with many text-based submissions to review.

How it works
1. Start a Feedback Session
Open a supported assignment in Canvas or Google Classroom. The SchoolAI extension will show an entry point to start a new feedback session.
In Google Classroom: Open the assignment's Student work tab and click “Batch feedback” in the top-right corner.
In Canvas: Open the assignment page and click “Batch feedback” in the right-hand sidebar, next to SpeedGrader.
2. Set up your Session
Provide your rubric, expectations for evaluation, and any examples or notes you want SchoolAI to use. This alignment applies to every student in the session, so it's worth taking a moment to be specific here.
3. Enter Bulk Feedback Mode
Once setup is done, you'll move into Bulk Feedback Mode, where you review students one at a time.
4. Review and apply, student by student
For each student:
SchoolAI pulls in their submission text.
SchoolAI generates a suggested grade and comment based on your session setup. You'll see a loading state while this happens.
When the suggestion is ready, review it. You can edit it, reject it, or click Apply.
Clicking Apply inserts the grade and comment into the correct fields in Canvas or Google Classroom. Nothing is written until you do this.
Finish saving/submitting the grade according to your normal LMS workflow.
Click Next to move to the next student (or Previous to go back).
Frequently asked questions
Does SchoolAI automatically grade my students? No. SchoolAI suggests a grade and feedback based on your rubric and expectations. You review it and must click Apply before anything is inserted into your LMS gradebook.
Can I edit the grade or feedback before applying it? Yes — you can adjust the suggested grade or comment however you like before applying it.
Does this work in Canvas and Google Classroom? Yes, both are supported in v1. It does not currently support Schoology, Moodle, or any other LMS.
Am I still the one grading, or is the AI grading for me? Batch Feedback is designed to cut down on repetitive work, not replace your review. You're responsible for the final grade and response.
Can I train it on my grading style? Right now, each session starts fresh with a setup step where you provide your rubric and expectations. An ongoing alignment/chat feature may come in a future version based on feedback from this beta.
Will my grading style be saved for future assignments? Not in this version — each session is set up individually for the assignment you're grading.
Does it support PDFs, images, audio, or video submissions? Not yet. The current version supports standard text-based submissions only.
What happens if a student has no submission? You'll see a message and can skip that student.
Can I use it with multi-part rubrics? Basic rubrics are supported through session setup. More advanced, criterion-by-criterion rubric workflows may come later.
